Sponsorship Opportunities

The Natchitoches Farmers' Market is currently seeking sponsors to continue the Natchitoches Farmers' Market Kids Club program.  In the summer of 2015, the Natchitoches Farmers' Market, previously known as the Cane River Green Market, introduced the Kids Club to children and families. The Kids Club provided an incentive for children to eat healthy and support local farmers by providing them $10 in tokens to spend with Natchitoches Farmers' Market vendors each Saturday as well as cool gifts and healthy eating tips. From April to July 2015, approximately 500 individual children checked in at the Natchitoches Farmers' Market Kids Club with many of them making repeat trips to the market with family and friends.

The Natchitoches Farmers' Market was able to provide this incentive to children and families through a grant from The Rapides Foundation, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation, Central Louisiana Economic Development Alliance (CLEDA), and MarketUmbrella.org. Unfortunately, those grant funds have been depleted.

The Natchitoches Farmers' Market is asking for your assistance to continue this great program.  Click here for more information on sponsorship opportunities and to download a sponsorship form.  We thank you for your time and consideration!

Fall Green Market to Begin October 13

The Cane River Green Market opens its fall 2012 season on Saturday, October 13 with an exciting array of activities to include a free Zumba class, an animal adoption day with Natchitoches Hope for Paws, a fall scene for pictures, and live musical entertainment by The Goodlowe Brothers.  Natchitoches' local farmer's market will take place every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon on the downtown riverbank in the Natchitoches Historic District through November 3.

Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance fitness workout and the free classes will be offered every Saturday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. The classes will be instructed by Kimberly Davis who regularly teaches Zumba at Northwestern State University's Wellness, Recreation, and Activity Center.  Participants of all ages and fitness levels are welcome to attend and encouraged to bring water and a towel.  Incorporation of the Zumba classes into the fall markets is made possible by a health and wellness grant from the Foundation for the Mid South.

As always, customers can choose from a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables from Green Market produce vendors.  Customers can also enjoy a selection of value-added products including farm fresh eggs, baked goods, jams, jellies, pickles, honey, fresh flowers, and much more.  Hand-crafted items are also available including jewelry, woodwork, stained glass and other items.

WIC and Senior vouchers issued over the summer can still be redeemed at the fall markets for fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs.  Senior voucher recipients can also use their vouchers to purchase locally grown honey.

Applications to be a Green Market vendor are still welcome.  To learn more about these special programs or how to become a vendor, please call the market office at (318)352-2746 (CRGM).
